OffBeat — Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Brownie Games ("we", "us"), an independent game studio based in Israel, processes when you play OffBeat (the "Game"), and why. We designed the Game to need as little of your data as possible: there is no registration, no account and no email — you play as a guest.
1. What we process, and why
- Player profile. You can personalize how you appear to other players — currently by choosing a nickname and a picture. This information is used for one purpose: allowing the players in your game session to identify one another. You can change it at any time, and you can delete your player profile entirely from within the app.
- Game and connection data. Running a real-time game between several phones requires processing technical data such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, session identifiers and in-game events (for example rounds played and votes cast). We use this to make sessions work, keep them fair and stable, and fix problems.
- Subscription status. If you purchase OffBeat PRO, Apple or Google process the payment and let us know your entitlement status (for example, "active subscription") so we can unlock PRO features. We never receive or store your payment card details.
- Analytics and support tools. We use third-party tools to collect usage and crash analytics, and to provide support and good service to players. Wherever possible, this data is handled in aggregated or pseudonymous form.
- Support. If you email us, we will have your email address and message, and we use them only to help you.
2. What we don't do
- We don't require an account, email address or phone number to play.
- We don't sell your personal data.
- We don't access your contacts, photos (beyond the picture you actively choose), microphone or location.
- We don't currently send marketing messages. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
3. Music links
Song previews in the Game come from licensed third-party music services, and tapping a song link takes you to that service's platform. From that moment you are subject to the third party's own terms and privacy policy. We don't control what those platforms collect on their pages.
4. Legal bases
We process data in accordance with the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, and, where it applies to players in the EU/EEA and the UK, the GDPR. Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the Game and PRO), our legitimate interests (stability, security and improvement of the Game), and consent where required. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
5. Who we share data with
Only with those who help us run the Game: infrastructure and hosting providers that power real-time sessions, analytics and crash-reporting providers, and the app stores in connection with purchases — each under their own data-processing commitments. Beyond that, we disclose data only if the law requires it, or as part of a change in ownership of the studio (in which case this policy continues to apply to your data).
6. Retention
We keep data only as long as it serves the purposes above. Session data is short-lived and needed mainly while you play; your player profile remains until you change it, delete it in the app, or uninstall the Game; aggregated statistics may be kept longer because they no longer identify anyone; and support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your inquiry.
7. Children
The Game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we process. No online service can guarantee absolute security; our primary safeguard is data minimization, since information we do not collect cannot be exposed.
9. Your rights
You can delete your player profile at any time directly from the app's settings. Beyond that, depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information relating to you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@browniegames.com and we will respond in accordance with applicable law. Players in the EU/EEA or UK may also complain to their local data protection authority.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its "last updated" date, is always published on this page, and material changes may also be communicated in the Game.
